New wildfire breaks out in Jefferson County

The Chair Rock Fire in Jefferson County has prompted a level-3 evacuation for residents in a three-mile radius of South Foxton and River roads in Jefferson County.

The JeffCo Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of heavy smoke in the area Wednesday afternoon.

Air support was dispatched and call out for type-3 and type-6 engines from all JeffCo fire districts was issued.

A level-3 evacuation means residents must leave immediately. There are more than 400 phone numbers in the evacuation area, according to Jeffco authorities.

Evacuated large animals should go to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Small animals are to be taken to Foothills Animals Shelter.
