WASHINGTON (AP) - A new government website offers prospective college students a way to figure out how much they could owe after graduating from a particular school.
The site comes from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and can be found at http://www.consumerfinance.gov/payingforcollege/costcomparison
It's in the testing phase, but already includes information from 7,500 colleges and universities.
Users can plug in details such as grant and scholarship offers to help with the calculation. There's also information on graduation and student loan default rates.
The site is the latest effort by the Obama administration to make colleges and universities more open about how costs.
