Black Hills Energy's new 487 million dollar power plant in Pueblo is scheduled to fire up Sunday.

It's called the Airport Generation Station, and uses natural gas to make electricity. Construction on the site began in July 2010.

A rate increase was approved by Utilities to help pay for the new plant; residential customers can expect to pay about $17.50 more each month, and for businesses that amount could be more like $60 a month. Those rate increases begin with the new year.
