The Pueblo Police Department plans to open a sub-station on the east side, where prostitution has been a problem. The new satellite office will be located at 731 E. 4th St. The building formerly housed Glendale 4, an HIV/AIDS Outreach Clinic.

In April 2009, News First 5 ran a story about the on-going problem with prostitution on that street corner. At the time Deputy Chief John Ercul told News First 5 police have tried to crackdown on this illegal activity. "A few years ago, we had a pretty aggressive enforcement program over here and we pretty much cleaned it up," said Ercul.

However, Jolene Hausman the former coordinator at Glendale 4, said the problem never truly vanished. Hausman said she routinely saw the prostitutes pick up men in front of her building. "I would say we easily have 50 to 100 different women that I've indentified and I'm sure there's even more," Hausman told News First 5 last April.

The clinic closed due to a lack of funding. The police department will hold a grand opening on Monday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
