A 31-year-old Pueblo West man is dead after trying to lead State Patrol on a high speed chase.

It started on I-25 just north of Pueblo when a speed-monitoring aircraft clocked a motorcycle speeding.

When troopers tried to stop the motorcycle, a chase began.

Speeds of more than 100 miles an hour were reported.

The driver left I-25 and headed west on Purcell into Pueblo West.

On McCulloch near Longmont, he crashed into the side of an International Dump Truck.

State Patrol says the motorcyclist died on scene.

His name has not yet been released.

The motorcycle was reported stolen to Colorado Springs police on July 15.
