Manitou Police continue to search for a missing girl.
Police report she went missing around 4 this afternoon while hiking with her family. We're told she was last seen near the Intemann Trail. That's near Ruxton and Winter Street.
The little girl's name is Emily. She is 12 years old. She is described as 4'3", 90 pounds with short blonde hair. She was wearing a pink jacket, blue pants, a white hat and wearing a black backpack.
A local firefigher believes he saw her just before 6:30 heading south on Ruxton. Police are following up on that lead.
She was stopped around 4:45 p.m. west of Manitou by a police officer. After speaking with the girl, the officer believed she was not Emily, and let her go. When the officer later saw a picture of the Emily, it was determined it was her.
Parents tell police she often hides from them as a game. They believe that is what she is doing at this time.
Manitou Police have issued a community wide notification to residents of Mantiou Springs. They are asking residents not to call 911 or the police station unless there is an emergency or have information regarding Emily.
