A new exhibit is opening at the Fine Arts Center Friday--At the Foot of the Colorado Rockies: Art from the Moffett Collection. Jim and Virginia Moffett spend summers in Colorado and since 1990 have amassed one of the most important collections of Colorado art.
Many of the artists represented in the Moffett collection were based in Colorado Springs during the decades prior to World War II, when this city was among the premier arts centers in the nation.
The exhibit includes some 50 paintings, drawings, and prints by artists Charles Bunnell, Thomas Hart Benton, Frank Mechau, Ethel and Jenne Magafan, Boardman Robinson, Birger Sandzén, Elisabeth Spalding, Lawrence Barrett, Ila Mae McAfee, and Edgar Britton.
The Fine Arts Center is open Tuesday - Sunday, 10 am - 4 pm.
