There is a new Executive Director at the Colorado Department of Corrections. It is the first day on the job for Rick Raemisch. He takes over four months after previous executive director tom clements was shot and killed at his home in monument.
The murder was a big motivation for Raemisch who has 30 years of experience in criminal justice. "When the Executive Director was murdered it lit a fire in me where I thought I can do more than I was doing in my current position," said Raemisch. He says he and Clements shared many similar philosophies about corrections and he will continue the vision.
He also says he is never satisfied with the status quo. He will be reviewing all corrections polices and programs to see what can be done better.
