The owner of a Pikes Peak region massage parlor raided this week for suspected human trafficking admitted she knew prostitution was going on at her spa and that she herself had worked as a prostitute at the spa in years past. Those details were revealed in an arrest affidavit for Aworn Hamilton, 50, owner of Sakura Therapy True Oriental Spa, 1807 B Street, in Stratmoor Hills.
The affidavit reveals that undercovers Colorado Springs police officers, acting on a tip from spa customers, raided Sakura around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon. When an officer entered the business, he was greeted by Hamilton, who escorted him to a massage room and said a masseuse would be with him shortly. The masseuse, Misook Sledge, 52, agreed to have sex with the undercover officer in exchange for money.
Hamilton was promptly arrested and during a police interview hours later admitted that she knew prostitution was happening at Sakura and that she herself had worked as a prostitute at the spa before purchasing it in June. She said typical services at the spa include masturbating the customer and occasionally engaging in full intercourse.
Hamilton was booked on a $10,000 bond on charges of pimping, pandering, and human trafficking. All are felonies. Sledge was arrested on suspicion of prostitution, as was Sang White, 62, during a concurrent raid at World Massage Therapy Spa, 4080 Clear View Frontage Road, in Security.
