DENVER (AP) - Cory Gardner is set to deliver his first speech in Congress.

The Colorado Republican will speak Thursday in the U.S. House of Representatives in support of cutting Congressional budgets. The former state lawmaker from Yuma was sworn into his new job in Congress on Wednesday along with Scott Tipton of Cortez. The 112th Congress is considering its first spending cut
measure, a proposed 5 percent trim in the budgets of leadership, rank-and-file member and committee offices.

Republicans have estimated that this will save $35 million over the next nine months.
