A report from the Associated Press says a new chemical element has been discovered.
The report says scientists at Lund University in Sweden have confirmed the new element's existence following claims of a possible new element from the United States and Russia that had remained unverified for about a decade.
The researchers the element is super-heavy and short-lived. For now, they call it "ununpentium," and it will take the 115th place in the Periodic Table of Elements. The element may get a new name if it is formally approved by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics and Chemistry.
