A two-month old infant may be the victim of a homicide. Colorado Springs Police have charged the babysitter with the boy's death.

George Peters faces First Degree Murder charges in the boy's death. Police originally charged the 23-year-old man with child abuse charges, after the infant was rushed to Memorial Hospital on February 10. The infant was not conscious or breathing. The infant has been in the pediatric intensive care unit since then. On February 19, medical staff took the boy off life support and he died.

The original call was at the Colony Hills apartments on Academy Boulevard and Drennan Road. Shortly after the child went to the hospital, the CSPD Crimes Against Children Unit responded and took over the investigation.

The El Paso County Coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.

If you have information about this crime you can call police at 719-444-7000. If you would like to remain anonymous you can call Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867) or you can simply text CSPD and your tip to 847411 (TIP411).
