LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Xcel Energy is warning people to stay away from a natural gas pipeline leak in Lakewood.

Spokesman Mark Stutz says a contractor dropped a shoring plate and punctured a 20-inch high pressure natural gas line at Garrison and Mississippi on Tuesday.

Stutz says the plate is lodged in the pipeline and workers weren't able to put a clamp on the break. Instead they'll have to wait for the gas pressure to drop in order to be able to repair it. He says the break is at least eight feet below ground and that very little natural gas is leaking into the air.
