NASA engineer profiled in "October Sky" in Colorado Springs

Homer Hickam. Name ring a bell?
If you watched the wonderful movie "October Sky" with Jake Gyllenhaal and Laura Dern, you know that Homer rose from a rural West Virginia childhood destined to work in a coal mine--to NASA engineer. That film was based on Hickam's book "Rocket Boys", 2009 All Pikes Peak Reads selection.
Hickam and some astronaut buddies will be at the Air Force Academy this Friday, for a fundraising dinner and lecture. Tickets will fund Hickam's other appearances in the area.
Friday evening's schedule:
6 - 7 p.m. Silent Auction and Entertainment
7 - 8:15 p.m. Dinner
8:15 - 9:30 p.m. Presentation
