NASHVILLE (AP) - They don't call Nashville the Music City for nothing. A study by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce that's expected to be released today says the music industry has an annual economic impact of nearly $9.7 billion on the Nashville region. The report says 27,000 jobs are directly supported by the music industry and another 29,000 jobs have indirect ties. The Tennessean reports that's significantly higher than a 2006 Belmont University study, that concluded the music industry had a $6.4 billion economic impact with 19,000 jobs.
