A scary Thursday afternoon for a family near Salida, after a young mountain lion entered their home.
Chaffee County Sheriff's Deputies say the animal killed one dog, and trapped a mother and her two children inside the home for a short time. Deputies got the family out.
The mountain lion was apparently malnourished. Colorado Division of Wildlife officers were able to tranquilize the lion, but after evaluating the animal, they euthanized it.
DOW officers say it's unusual for a mountain lion to enter a building. There were three other dogs in the home that were hurt fighting with the animal.
