Olympic National Park officials say a mountain goat that fatally gored a 63-year-old hiker over the weekend has shown aggressive behavior in the past.

Park spokesman Barb Maynes says rangers have been tracking the ram and several others for the past several years. She says the attack was highly unusual.

Robert Boardman was killed Saturday after he was gored by the mountain goat while hiking on a trail in the park near Port Angeles, about 85 miles west of Seattle.

About 300 mountain goats roam the park.
