Mountain bikers are unhappy with some work done on one of the main trails, at Section 16 open space in Colorado Springs.

There are now some very steep steps on the trail that mountain bikers are having trouble maneuvering.

News First 5 looked into it. Managers at Colorado Springs Parks Department say they've had complaints, and say the mountain bikers do have a point.

Here's what happened; a volunteer group wanted to do some work at Section 16 for National Trails Day. Parks leaders jumped at having volunteers, but tell NF5 they now realize they should have looked more closely at the effort to stop erosion.

"All work is going to be halted until we have chance to go through that process and evaluate what are maybe solutions and different ways to handle the situation," says Kurt Schroeder with the Colorado Springs Parks Department.

So what happens next? The parks department is getting ready to hear what you think about a trails "master plan" for the area. Until then, the recent changes to the trail will likely stay.
