Motorcycle crash in Colorado Springs leaves one seriously injured

A motorcycle crash in Colorado Springs leaves one person with life-threatening injuries.

It happened on South Academy Boulevard around ten last night.

A motorcycle was traveling southbound going straight through an intersection that controls traffic for a strip mall.

A Ford F150 was travelling northbound turning left into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the truck turned in front of the motorcycle causing it to crash into the truck.

It's unclear right now from witness reports if the turn light was red or not, so police say they do not know if it was an illegal turn.

They add either way the driver of the truck will be responsible for turning into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old male, struck the windshield of the truck and landed on the roadway.

He was then taken to Memorial Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck and a passenger were not injured.

The driver of the truck was cited for careless driving resulting in injury, vehicles turning left, and other traffic related charges.

No alcohol or excessive speed is suspected.

The investigation continues.
