Mormon church's spring conference continues

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Faithful Mormons will gather to hear words of inspiration from their leaders Sunday, the second day of their church's semiannual general conference.

The two-day conference draws more than 100,000 to the four-block downtown Salt Lake City campus of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The event comes just days before the church marks its 181st anniversary on April 6.

The Sunday proceedings begin with a live broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word," a 30 minute weekly program featuring music by the 360-member Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

On Saturday, church President Thomas S. Monson announced plans to build new temples in Colorado, Idaho and Canada.

Church leaders also released new statistical data which shows the religion has grown to include 14.1 million members worldwide.
