For the thousands of wounded warriors, they are still battling physical and emotional scars. And we take time to honor their sacrifice as well today.
With a decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, more and more veterans are having to file for disability benefits--nearly half of those returning from the war zone. The most common psychological disorder, post traumatic stress, a medical condition that many of our vets say has no cure. "The VA, they said the medications help you control it, but it's something that's etched in your mind forever," said Vietnam War veteran Randolph Rogers, "so how can you control someone's mind? A person's gonna think about it."
The study says today's soldiers are suffering an average of 8 to 9 ailments.
