FLASH FLOOD WATCH for the News 5 viewing area through this evening. With an already saturated ground from the past few days, and more storms expected, flash flooding will be possible with any storms this afternoon.
We've been plagued with storms and flooding so far this week, and we're not done yet. More scattered showers and t-storms are possible today, and with more sunshine this afternoon, that will just add more fuel to the fire. So scattered showers and t-storms will pop-up through the afternoon and into the evening hours. Don't be surprised if the storms contain some hail, gusty winds and flooding rains. The more sunshine we see this afternoon, the more instability that will be around to kick off the storms.
Thursday we start to see some changes. Temperatures will still be below normal with highs mainly in the 70s and low 80s, but we are expecting a gradual drying with more sunshine. There will be a few spotty showers, especially in the highest of elevations. Along the I-25 corridor and east, there won't be quite the widespread activity that was around earlier in the week.
Friday through Sunday looks really nice! Temperatures will start to climb back up to seasonal averages. This means a lot of heat for Saturday and Sunday - it is mid July, so we're typically experiencing our warmest days this time of year.
If you experience flooding, don't drive through flooded roadways... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
