More Storms This Week - Possible Flash Flooding

We talked about it last week - it's monsoon season here in Colorado.  That means for us, there's more showers, t-storms and flooding possible.  And this is going to be the case again through much of the week.

Today, we are already starting to see showers and t-storms firing up in the high country.  These t-storms will become more numerous and move east as we progress through the afternoon.  With any storms, you can expect flooding, torrential rain, frequent lightning, and even small hail.  Once the rain starts in your area, the temperatures will stop climbing.  So this will cause a big range in highs from the low 70s in the high country to the 100s in the eastern plains.

The forecast from Monday continues into Tuesday and Wednesday.  The only difference will be that temperature each day will be a few degrees cooler.  So by Wednesday, we'll be in the mid 70s for Springs and low 80s for Pueblo.  But each day does continue with morning sunshine, followed by a mostly cloudy afternoon with widespread showers and t-storms.  Tuesday we are also looking at a slight risk for severe weather in the northern part of our viewing area - including Teller and El Paso Counties.

By the end of the week, temperatures will go back up and the weather will get a little quieter.  So we may see some showers, but they won't be as numerous as earlier in the week.  Lets keep our fingers crossed that it turns into a nice weekend.

Think of the showers this way - at least you don't have to water :)  Meteorologist Valerie Abati
