ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Call it another sign of Colorado struggling job market - aspiring ski resort workers headed to a jobs fair Thursday in Aspen are being asked to set up online appointments first and fill out applications in advance.
The Aspen Times reports that The Aspen Skiiing Co. has more than 80 jobs to fill, from ski-lift operators to security guards.
The company says the weak economy has made it possible to fill jobs with Pitkin County locals, instead of seeking outsiders to come work for the season. Last year the company canceled two job fairs because there were no positions to fill.
Skico spokesman Jeff Hanle tells the newspaper that the company still has fairs tentatively scheduled for October and November, but that there is more competition for jobs.
