Monument's own Miguel Dakota made the top 12 finals on America's Got Talent Wednesday night. The young musician from Monument got his start, in a way, at Pikes Peak Brewing Company, where he could be found performing for patrons.
And it was there at the brewery where people gathered Wednesday night to watch the results on NBC. Dakota's mother also works at the brewery. Founder Chris Wright said everyone on staff is excited and proud of Dakota, as they watch every week to cheer him on from home.
"We all feel like he's a part of our family so there's a huge following, just really rooting for him," said Wright.
Family friends and fans said Wednesday night ahead of the show, whether he made the cut or not, they're still ecstatic for Dakota and proud of him. They feel like he's already made it big, whether he wins the show or not.
"The community is proud, quite proud," said Monument Mayor, Rafael Dominguez.
News 5 will continue to track Dakota's progress on America's Got Talent.
