The Colorado Springs Fire Department reports a fire that started Monday in the Stratton Open Space area of southwest Colorado Springs only burned 2.7 acres.

Over 80 people worked to stop the fire Monday afternoon. The fire was staffed until 5 p.m. Tuesday. It was not accessible by vehicle, fire crews had to hike in and use hand tools, chainsaws and small water packs.

The area contained lots of trees, the fire stayed low to the ground and only consumed grass. The cause of the fire is unknown.
