Colorado State Patrol troopers say a Cascade woman who was reported missing Monday night, has been found dead in a car crash.
Troopers started looking for 71-year-old Hilda Correa Monday night around ten, along Highway 24; even getting out and searching Fountain Creek on foot.
Crews found Correa Tuesday morning around seven, at about 7:10, just east of Cascade. The car she was driving went off the south side of the eastbound lanes and rolled. Correa was found dead inside; she didn't have her seat belt on.
"It's about 20 feet down, so it's difficult to see; impossible to see from the roadway, so it's something that if he had not gotten out and walked this person could have been here for much longer," says Sgt. Justin Mullins with Colorado State Patrol. Sgt. Mullins says Correa's family has been notified.
Troopers are still investigating what caused the crash; they're looking into the possibility that Correa fell asleep, or that the influence of prescription medications might have played a roll.
