Over the past few weeks, signs east of Canon City may have had some drivers thinking they've entered a time warp.

On Highway 50 near Penrose, there was a sign that read "Canon City 11 miles." Here's the problem, just half a mile later there was another sign that read "Canon City 8 miles." We drove the distance and found out it is only 8 miles to Canon City from the signs.

On Monday, News First 5 told the Colorado Department of Transportation about the problem. It turns out the 8 mile sign was recently installed, and apparently CDOT didn't remove the old one right away. On Tuesday CDOT removed the old sign. A spokesperson says it will be recycled.
