The service member tax credit for home buyers has been extended to June 30, 2011, which means you have until then to close on a house. It must be under contract April 30.

This is the same $8,000 tax credit that that caused a rush of home buying in 2009 and early 2010. It was extended for members of the military who were deployed for at least 90 days during the time the credit was available to everyone else.

Doug DeWitt of Metro Brokers in Colorado Springs says it's a great opportunity of members of the military--with historically low interest rates and low home prices in addition to the tax credit.
