Military pay and cuts could see a major cut.
The Congressional Budget Office is proposing a possible cap to the next basic pay raise at 1 percent, rather than the 1.8 percent that is still technically in effect.
Benefits to veterans may also be affected.
This would start Jan. 1, 2014
The option would then cap military raises starting at 0.5 percent starting January 2015.
Over 10 years, that would yield $24.9 billion in savings.
The deadline for making this decision is Dec. 15.
