Community leaders in Pueblo celebrated a milestone for a construction project on the city's southside. Today a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the Lake Ave. renovation project.
The Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority has spent the past two years remodeling the old Pueblo highway. The street was narrowed to reduce speeds, new street drainage was installed and they added new lighting and landscape to improve the image.
"It's going to take some time, but I think people are beginning to realize Lake Avenue is in a renaissance," said Gary Trujillo, with the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority.
The urban renewal authority says so far about $3 million has been spent on the first two phases of the project. There are still two additional phases to complete.
