LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - Canned beer isn't just for swilling anymore.

Baxter Brewing, a craft-beer brewer in Maine, is the latest to distribute its brew in cans, just like mainstream mass-produced beers such as Budweiser, Coors and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

A decade ago, it's believed there weren't any U.S. craft breweries canning their suds. The Brewers Association, a Colorado-based group representing craft brewers, says nowadays nearly 100 sell at least one beer variety in metal.

Baxter Brewing founder and president Luke Livingston says when he decided to sell craft beer in cans, some people told him that bottles were way better, and draft beer was the best.

His retort: Draft beer comes out of a keg, which is just a big can.
