Authorities say methamphetamine arrests are up 46 percent in Pueblo since the Colorado Meth Project began in May 2009.

Pueblo police say 38 meth-related arrests were made since then, compared with 26 in the preceding 12 months.

It's not clear whether the numbers reflect an increase in meth use or stepped-up enforcement.

The Colorado Meth Project uses advertising and public service announcements to show the effects of meth on individual users.

It's modeled on the Montana Meth Project, which began in 2005. Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois and Wyoming also have meth project.
