A team of students at Heaton Middle School in Pueblo prepares for a national competition.
They're with the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement program, also known as MESA, and they just recently won the state competition in Denver for their wind turbine.
They say it's fun and rewarding to have the chance to participate.
"We all want to be in an engineering career, and it's kind of helped us because we do a lot of engineering and science," said Yency Gonzalez, an eighth grader at Heaton Middle School.
They will attend the national competition in Seattle in June.
