The family of Chief Warrant Officer David R. Carter has announced memorial service plans for the fallen soldier.
Carter was a co-pilot of the Chinook helicopter that was shot down in Afghanistan August 6. Planeside honors are scheduled to take place at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., tomorrow, Aug. 17, just after 1 p.m.
Chief Warrant Officer David R. Carter's remains will be returning to the Army Aviation Support Facility, where he performed his duties prior to his Afghan deployment.
As his casket is driven off the base, service members are expected to line the streets to pay their last respects to this invaluable member of Team Buckley.
Carter's memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, August 19, at Easter Hills Community Church in Aurora, Colo. Following the memorial service, interment is scheduled to begin at approximately 2 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins. Governor John Hickenlooper is scheduled to attend all ceremonies.
