Family and friends of a Palmer High School hockey player who died unexpectedly over the weekend are mourning his loss.
Sam Hesselberg, 17, suffered a brain aneurysm and died Saturday morning. The school canceled
Monday's hockey match and a counselor will be available to his teammates today.
Hesselberg was a three sport student athlete playing on the hockey, golf and baseball teams at Palmer. Word quickly spread Saturday about his death, and hundreds of people came to the family home that evening to attend a candlelight vigil.
Hesselberg's hockey coach Bob Davidson says Sam he will be missed.
"I guess the best thing I can say is you would have him for a son," Davidson said. "So, if you could imagine losing a son, that's what I'll miss."
A memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Palmer High School Auditorium.
