The fire burning on the north edge of the Sand Dunes National Park grew slightly Wednesday, to just over 6,200 acres.
Crews have been cutting, digging and scraping outside the fire border and also back burning to rob the fire of fuel. Helicopters have even been setting small fires intentionally in higher elevations.
The fire was started by lightning on June 6 and for the most part is being allowed to burn itself out.
