DENVER (AP) - Colorado water quality officials have ordered Meadow Mountain Water Supply Co. to redesign its treatment plant to better handle higher levels of turbidity.
State records show the nonprofit corporation in Allenspark
serves 80 residents.
An enforcement order from state officials says water in Meadow Mountain's system exceeded state standards for turbidity in April, May and June, when spring runoff of melting mountain snow flushed sediment into rivers.
Margaret Talbott of the state health department's Water Quality Control Division said Thursday the water was treated before it reached customers. However, the state wants Meadow Mountain to improve its treatment plant before next spring.
