McAfee estate eyed for transition center for war veterans

A nonprofit group hopes to buy a Teller County estate once owned by antivirus software developer John McAfee and use it as a reintegration center for soldiers returning from war.
Pikes Peak Behavioral Health Group says the 290-acre estate and 10,000-square-foot mansion could be used for programs that help veterans and families make the transition from war to home life.
The group estimates the property, on a mountaintop just outside Woodland Park, could be purchased for $4 million. McAfee sold it for $5.7 million in 2007.
Pikes Peak Behavior Health Group says it's now in foreclosure and the bank that controls it contacted the group about possible uses. The group says it hopes to find another organization to buy the property and then donate it or allow the group to use it.
