Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach wants to bring back many city services in his new budget plan, that were cut due to shortages in previous budgets. He wants to restore things like evening bus service, turn back on 35-hundred streets lights, and get police and fire back up to full staffing.

There is a 232-million dollar general fund budget which is not much more than the years when these items were cut. To pay for the additions the mayor is doing things like eliminating vacant positions in other departments, negotiating lower prices on contracts, and increasing help from volunteers.

The budget is a proposal. The Colorado Springs City Council takes input on it and has to give approval.

The proposed budget is posted on line. You can see it here.
