During the afternoon media briefing Colorado Springs mayor Steve Bach announced that an early assessment showed at least 346 homes were destroyed by the Waldo Canyon Fire.
Bach, his wife Susie and other community leaders will meet with homeowners from the evacuation areas tonight at 8:00 at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. "This is going to be a tough evening but we're going to get through this," Bach said.
Colorado Springs Emergency Manager Brett Waters said a map of the damaged homes will be posted online following the meeting. Waters added that he is hopeful that significant number of evacuations will soon be lifted.
