Some medical marijuana patients filed a petition yesterday to stop Colorado's looming regulations for how pot is sold.
The group of marijuana patients have asked the state's Supreme Court to overturn large parts of two Colorado laws passed last year that will regulate the medical marijuana industry.
The patients' petition argues that some of the proposed regulations, such as a requirement that pot shops record marijuana sales on video, violate patient privacy. They also claim that the law restricts access to medicine.
The petition filed Wednesday also argues that local jurisdictions shouldn't have the ability to ban marijuana dispensaries.
Many of the rules are expected to take effect later this year.
