We've been following the case of "Stewie" the cat -- who survived horrific animal abuse.
He's been placed in a foster home, but the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region wants to remind you that they have plenty of cats available for adoption.
They say their live release rate is more than 80%.
However, recent numbers show more than 1,000 cats have been euthanized. The Society says cats are euthanized for reasons including medical and behavior problems.
Every animal that comes into the facility gets evaluated to decide whether adoption, rescue, or euthanasia makes the most sense.
"We do our best to make sure every animal gets into that loving home that will care for them for the rest of their lives," says Gretchen Pressley, Communications Specialist for the Humane Society.
