The Broncos wrapped up mandatory mini camp today, one step closer to getting ready for the season.
They started Tuesday and have had three days of practices by the whole team. It's a chance for Peyton Manning to get on the same page with his receivers, and he never misses one of those. Known for his work ethic he's always trying to have better chemistry, and even he says he's come pretty far as a quarterback since his first year.
"My rookie year, a coach said 'Why didn't you throw the pass?' I said 'Well, he wasn't open, there was only about that much room.' And he's like, 'Oh yeah, by the way, that is open in the NFL.' You do have to learn that," says Manning. "You have to throw a guy open sometimes, but trust that he's going to be at the spot. Very rarely are you looking at the receiver, you're looking at the defender. if it's 12 yards, two yards inside the numbers, it's not 11, it's not 12 and a half, it's 12 yards, two yards inside the numbers. And that's kind of how you have a passing game."
Manning and the rest of the team begin the next stage of off-season workouts Monday, June 16th.
