A Florida man has taken home a record-breaking $3.5-million jackpot at the Seminole Casino in Immokalee.
Christopher Detzler took a $10 spin on the slot machine and hit for $3.5-million while visiting the casino on Sunday.
It's money he almost didn't give himself a chance to win.
"On the way out the door, just decided I'll play this a little bit more," he said. "It was a life changing experience."
It was a shock for both Detzler and the man playing on the machine next to him.
"He said, 'What did you win?' And I said, $3.5-million.' And he goes 'No way. I have to see that ticket come out of there,'" said Detzler.
Detzler didn't just walk in and sit down at that machine.
He'd already been at the casino for about four hours and was already up $8,000 playing one of the other slot machines.
"Yeah, I've been lucky. But I play a lot. You can't win if you don't play," said Detzler.
Tony Sanchez, General Manager for the Seminole Casino of Immokalee, said the jackpot is the highest ever paid on a slot machine in Florida, topping a $2-million winner from Coconut Creek last year.
"It's always nice when you have a regular customer that's been coming here for a number of years, been loyal to us," said Sanchez.
Detzler works at a furniture store in Naples and hasn't decided if he'll keep his job.
He said his only plan was to buy a new house, but he says don't be surprised to see him soon on a slot machine near you.
"It's a good place. I've always been treated well here, so I'll definitely be back," Detzler said.
