The man who jumped to his death from a 12-story building in downtown Colorado Springs today was scheduled be sentenced for several crimes about thirty minutes before he died.
Jeremy Eckels, 35, was scheduled for a hearing at 9:30 this morning in Judge Barney Iuppa's court. He was to be sentenced on multiple theft charges in four different cases. Most of the charges involved theft of from $1,000 to $20,000 and related to his work as a contractor. He had failed to appear in court on November 19. Our partners at the Gazette report he faced four years in prison.
He jumped to his death from the roof of the Alamo building at about 10 a.m.
