DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - A Durango man has died after a brush-clearing machine he was driving slid into the Animas River, trapping him inside.
The Durango Herald reports that the man drowned Monday morning in his skid steer. That's a type of front-loader used to clear brush and other tasks.
The machine toppled into the river on its roof. Workers broke out a window with a hammer, but were unable to free the man.
The victim wasn't immediately identified, though police said he was a local man in his early 30s.
