A man convicted of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams will be sentenced this afternoon to life in prison.
A jury convicted Willie Clark of first-degree murder in Williams' death on New Year's Day 2007, after both men had left the same night club. Several people are expected to speak at a sentencing hearing Friday afternoon.
A first-degree murder conviction in Colorado carries a mandatory life sentence.
Clark also was convicted of attempted murder and assault charges in the attack that injured two others.
Witnesses during the trial testified that Clark desperately searched for a gun following an altercation at a night club, hopped into an SUV to catch up with a limousine carrying Williams, and then fired the deadly shots.
