Man struck by car in Pueblo, seriously injured

PUEBLO, CO- A man was seriously injured in Pueblo Sunday evening after being hit by a car.

Pueblo Police say the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 50 Bypass and Bonforte Boulevard, just after 6:00pm.

An unidentified 62-year-old hispanic man was crossing north to south on the crosswalk, when he was struck by a Nissan, driven by Ruben Velasquez, Jr. He was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 bypass in the right through lane. Witnesses say Velasquez had the green light.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, and is currently in critical condition.

Police say speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
