A man who plead guilty to animal abuse in Park County was sentenced today in Fairplay. Samuel Walker was sentenced to the maximum 90 days in jail starting today.

He will also be on 2 years of supervised probation.

Nearly a hundred sled dogs were found starving at a kennel near Hartsel in December of 2009. Eight dogs died. Walker pleaded guilty to one felony count. He was ordered not to acquire any new animals and cannot get involved in any animal related business.

He was also fined more than $6,000.

Shelters and rescue organizations that cared for the starving dogs have 90 days to file requests for restitution.

In October Walker's wife was sentenced to two years probation for her involvement.
